Royal Pains S01Ep03 - Strategic Planning

This weeks episode synopsis is fairly simple so I won't spend much time on it. Hank is called to give a complete physical to the son of a prominent senator who is planning to play football for Notre Dame. As fate would have it, a shortly after Hank and Divya run the tests (I believe it was a day or two) the patient develops some kind of neurological problem and is on the verge of dying. Hank fights with the kid's obsessive mother, who has planned out every aspect of her sons life, to allow him to continue to treat the boy instead of airlifting him to a hospital.

There is a sub-plot about a dog walker who gets bitten because Evan provokes one of the dogs, but it doesn't warrent much notice. Evan is his idiotic yet business savvy self - a nice return from the last episode in bizarro world.

Two highlights in the episode were more Divya and a breif appearance from Boris. I adore Divya. She is beautiful and is a well written character. It was nice to see Boris again. I find his character interesting and I like Campbell Scott, the actor that plays him. I was kind of dissapointed when 6 Degrees was canceled. Campbell Scott played a photographer trying to juggle work and being a part time father.

Now for the harsh criticism: Please ax Jill, the local hospital administrator. There is almost no chemistry between Hank and Jill. The scenes with the two feel so contrived and are almost painful to watch. I seriously think this attempt at a relationship could kill the show. Writers, please, please make Jill move away or die or something and bring in a new love interest for Hank: one that is actually believable.
