Did I Ever Mention...I Hate TV Networks

I finally got around to watching the 3rd season of Kyle XY this past weekend, which resulted in a good deal of irritation and anger directed toward ABC Family. Regardless of what you thought of Kyle XY, the show did have a decent fan base and for cryin' out loud, it's a cable channel. Do they expect to have multi-millions of viewers?

In the last few years I have had a grudge growing against TV networks. I have started watching several shows over the last few years that have been canceled without any kind of attempt at wrap up: Kyle XY being a prime example. Seriously? You end the series with "I'm your brother"?!? What bullshit!!! Please Sci-Fi channel, pick this show up and finish it up decently.

At least Prison Break was wrapped up, although the ending sucked horribly. How do the network execs think that they willl retain loyal viewers when they have no loyalty to their viewers. Shows are killed before they have a chance to take off or make adjustments to the shows to make them better. I do have give kudos to USA Network. Yes they did cancel the 4400 but for the most part, they have good shows and give them a decent chance to have a life. Burn Notice, Monk, Psych to name a few are great shows that I love to watch.

With the demise of Kyle XY, I have decided to only watch shows that don't have some kind of dramatic story arc. Shows like Psych where the only thing you are really hoping happens from one episode to the other is that Shawn and Jules will get together; if that never happens, I won't really care. The show is still entertaining from week to week but if it was canceled tomorrow (please don't) I wouldn't be too annoyed.

ABC Family, how can you call label yourself a FAMILY channel when your shows promote many un-family values. Maybe I'm out of touch with current family values or maybe ABC is trying to re-define them but shows that promote teen pregnancy, underage drinking, teen sex, rebellion towards authority and other things doesn't seem very family to me.

A big F U to ABC Family and all the other networks that don't care about their viewers. I think I'll just give up on TV shows with a major story arc and just wait to watch them on DVD if they complete their run.
